How much time do you spend online?

November 4th, 2009 at 04:00 am

Just curious...how much time does everyone spend online "playing" each day, on average? (not counting time spent making money blogging or doing surveys or selling online)

I have a routine almost daily of checking 2 email accounts, reading some blogs, and checking for coupons. Somewhere in there I peek at Craigslist also. If you asked my husband, he'd tell you I spend about 5-6 hours a day online, but it's really more like 2-3 hours. That still seems like A LOT!

I went back to Dillons again tonight after I found a few coupons online and identified 10 more items to get for their mega saver event. I couldn't resist! For $3.58 I bought:
3 Lean Cuisine meals
2 Betty Crocker potato mixes
3 Chex Mix
2 Bumble Bee tuna pouches

I also bought $4+ of ground beef at another store, so of our original limit of $40 for the week, I still have $17 left. Tomorrow I'll hit up a discount store for bread and fuji apples. Last time I was there the apples were 49 cents a pound, and they are huge. Lets hope the price holds until I can get there.

    hmm, interesting question.
i spend about 15 minutes online in the morning while i drink my coffee, and about 1-2 hours at night or in the afternoon. sometimes it is less - it all gets rather boring for me.

lol. Well, when I'm at work writing code, sometimes it takes a few minutes for the code to process. So I keep a browser window open where I can read it and the code in another window so I can see when the test it done, and flip back and forth. So, sometimes it feels like I am online for those 8 hours! Not really, though. But when I get home, I check out my email, facebook, hotair.com and savingadvice.com and I could be on here for hours. I would rather be online than watching tv most of the time.

I spend quite a bit of time online everyday. Of course, I'm not working now, so that's part of it.

After feeding the cats and having my own breakfast, my make a cup of tea and bring it upstairs to my office to drink while checking email on 2 accounts, sometimes doing survey offers and sometimes checking the blogs here. I also have about 25 or so blogs bookmarked that i browse if I'm in the mood; most are gardening or cooking related.

I check email throughout the day, and then again in the evening.

    Way too much?

No, actually I used to be way worse. I do tend to do internet in short spurts any more. It's rare I will spend hours online. But I tend to check often throughout the day. (Which probably makes it seems like I am on for hours).

From "internet addiction" days, I tend to turn it off for nights and weekends. My family appreciates it. I am very liberal with my time spent on SA, because it tends to be rather productive. I try to stay away from non-productive internet activities for the most part. (& I mean I know I am way un-productive here too, but I used to spend so much time spinning my wheels online. Though I like Facebook for reconnecting with friends, I try to stay off of it for the most part - too many time wasters on there).

Way, way too much. But, I am using some of that time to take classes .... so not altogether wasted time. Smile If I get the receptionist job, my time will go way down.

So, the general consensus is: WAY TOO MUCH!!! Glad I'm not alone.
